The story of Illisa. The Játaka was related in reference to the conversion by Moggallána of the banker Maccharikosiya (q.v.) of Sakkhara.
Illisa of the past is identified with Macchariyakosiya (J.i.345ff).
The story is given as an example of iddhi by means of which Moggallána made a little thing increase manyfold. Vsm.ii.403.
